Instead of the Get Moving Challenge this Fall, McDowell Wellness Center is offering a 4 week Healthy Habit Challenge. You select 2 habits that you will work on and report on them weekly using our tracker. All who complete the challenge will be placed in a prize drawing. Everyone who includes a physical activity habit may attend free group fitness classes at McDowell Wellness Center during the challenge which runs October 7-November 1.
According to many experts, it takes 21 days to break or form a new habit of simple to moderate complexity. Other sources say it actually takes longer than that, but we thought, let’s see what we can do in 4 weeks! And what a great month- October- for this challenge! This is before all the challenges of the holidays kick in and before the new year. Plus hopefully, by now, you have settled into a Fall routine that allows you a little time for you.
For this challenge, we want you to pick two small challenges to work on in 2 different areas: “Nutrition,” “Physical Activity” and “Other Healthy Habits”. We have provided challenge options in each category that are widely accepted as “healthy” by healthcare organizations. Many include fill-in blanks so you can note where you are at and where you feel you can be, reasonably and with a little effort. We have also left you the option of recording your own personalized goal that is not included in the standard options.
