Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to safely open McDowell Wellness Center (MWC) on Wednesday, June 17, 2020. In an effort to comply with Kentucky’s Healthy at Work regulations and to protect the health and wellbeing of our members and Associates, several changes have been made. These changes will be in effect until new guidance is provided by the governor’s office, at which time additional adjustments may be necessary. We will make every attempt to provide timely notice of any future changes.
Temporary hours of operation for gym area:
- Monday through Thursday: 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Friday: 5 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Sunday: Closed
Fitness classes will resume the week of June 22, 2020 by appointment.
Pool is currently closed.
Childcare services and room rental are not available at this time.
Everyone entering the facility will have their temperature taken and recorded by a MWC Associate. Members experiencing the following symptoms will not be permitted entry: temperature of 100.4 or greater, shortness of air, or coughing. Mask will be available upon request.
Face masks are required when entering and exiting the facility. Members are encouraged to wear a face mask while inside the gym area.
Members will enter through the main front door as marked and exit through the door in the gym area by the free weights.
Maximum occupancy is currently 33%. During peak times members may experience wait times to enter the facility; therefore, visits will be limited to 45 minutes. Peak times are typically 5 a.m. to 8 a.m., noon to 2 p.m., and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Senior citizens are encouraged to visit during non-peaks times, typically on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Members are asked to scan their card before leaving the facility to assist with occupancy tracking.
Members are encouraged to bring their own water bottles. Water fountains are not available and the sale of all food and retail items have been temporarily suspended.
Members are encouraged to bring their own towels and equipment (mats, bands, etc.) as appropriate.
Public seating and waiting areas are currently not available, therefore guests are not allowed at this time (including children).
Social distancing of six feet or greater must be maintained at all times. If a member requires special assistance, additional personal protective equipment and guidelines are required.
Equipment is spaced to meet social distancing guidelines and is not be moved.
Fitness classes will be limited to 10 individuals and will be scheduled with at least 15 minutes between classes to ensure social distancing. Class participants are asked to arrive no more than five minutes prior to the class start time. Please fill the class from front row to back row and exit back row to front row.
Locker rooms and showers are temporarily unavailable. Please see an EMH Associate if you need to access your locker.
Cleaning & Disinfecting:
Members are encouraged to practice safe hand hygiene at all times, especially before and after touching equipment and other high-touch areas. Hand sanitizer is available throughout the facility.
The member service desk and other high-touch areas will be sanitized by MWC Associates after each member has completed their transaction.
Disinfecting supplies will be available for members to wipe down equipment before and after each use. Instructors will clean and sanitize all equipment before and after each class.
