Get Moving Challenge

The Community Get Moving Challenge is a free 8-week challenge to increase physical activity. The challenge is open to people of all ages and fitness levels. One may participate as an individual or on a team. The primary purpose of the team is to support and encourage each other. Prizes which are donated by community businesses are awarded each week in a drawing from among those who submit their minutes of exercise. Everyone who completes the challenge with at least 7 weeks of minutes receives a free Get Moving t-shirt, thanks to local business sponsors.

The Spring 2019 Get Moving Challenge begins April 14 with a kick-off event at Weisiger Park in front of the Boyle County Courthouse. Participants may register and pick up their packets with instructions and exercise log at the event. In addition, we will have our “City of Firsts” walk; or one may choose to ride their bike in the Tour D’Ville with City Commissioner Rick Serres or move with Ann Mosley in Zumba and Rumble. Everyone who participates in our kick-off event will receive a free Get Moving tote and be added to our grand prize drawing.

This Spring Challenge features two special challenges within the 8 week challenge. We are featuring our Historically Bold Walks at various sites in Boyle and Mercer Counties. We are also encouraging individuals to complete the Free 50/50 Challenge by participating in 50 group fitness classes in 50 days. Group fitness classes are free at McDowell Wellness Center for Get Moving participants during the 50 day challenge. All who complete the 50/50 challenge will receive a free 50/50 t-shirt or tank.
